SPECULATION

Speculation is an experimental project that looks into three different viewpoints of human nature, looking into the "Rituals of Everyday Life", "Movement and Motion", and the "Solitude of Crowds". The modern shift of photography and technology has forced us to start questioning what art is. With the rise of AI, the creative industry is slowly losing its character, and as a contemporary rising photographer, I wanted to showcase ideas that AI can't recreate, and that is the personal connection we share with humans.

RITUALS OF EVERYDAY LIFE

"Ritual of the Daily Life" explores how small, overlooked moments in everyday routines define our relationship with the spaces we occupy. The project aims to highlight these subtle emotions and moments, using panoramic photography to create small landscape photos that reveal the essence of everyday life—from routine travels and spontaneous journeys to thoughtful moments and the shifting ways we present ourselves in different places.

I started this project because daily sights and experiences often become invisible through repetition. After spending long periods in familiar places, we tend to overlook their significance. My intention is to challenge that habit by closely observing and capturing these environments through unnoticed moments. In a bustling city, where new faces and experiences are constant, it can be difficult to find connection or a sense of belonging. This project invites viewers to recognise the meaningful connections that exist beneath the surface of daily experience.

MOVEMENT AND MOTION

Movement and Motion is a contemplative project that embarks on a profound exploration of the myriad journeys we undertake in our everyday lives. It seeks to uncover the nuances and intricacies involved in what defines a journey, while also examining the diverse ways in which individuals interpret these unique experiences. This undertaking not only scrutinises the human connection to various spaces but also delves into the underlying motivations that propel us to embark on our quests. Furthermore, it investigates the intricate relationships between different environments and the individuals who traverse them, as well as the significant transformations that occur during these journeys. At its core, the conventional notion of a journey encompasses the simple idea of travelling from Point A to Point B. However, this project aspires to expand that framework by speculating on the broader implications of what Point A and Point B signify. In this context, they may represent not just physical locations but also emotional states, personal connections, or the pursuit of serenity—a drive that compels us to seek out places that might initially appear inconsequential or overlooked. I chose the title Movement and Motion to encapsulate the essence of this exploration. It emphasises that no matter the perceived value or significance of a particular space, we often find ourselves drawn to locales that, on the surface, may seem devoid of purpose or meaning.

SOLITUDE OF CROWD

Solitude of Crowds is an intriguing project that delves into the concept of individuality and how it manifests in our lives. This exploration is rooted in the understanding that we often reveal our true selves in moments of solitude, particularly when we are not surrounded by the perceptions and judgments of others. The challenge lies in the fact that when individuals exist among others, it becomes incredibly difficult to gain insight into their authentic selves; a sea of faces can obscure our perception. In attempting to uncover the essence of individuality within the chaos of crowds, one may find that while the unique attributes of each person remain hidden, their true characteristics may emerge when placed in calm, familiar environments. Imagine taking a diverse group of people and situating them in a serene park or a cosy café. In these tranquil settings, the subtle nuances of their personalities begin to shine through, revealing layers of identity that are often masked in a bustling atmosphere. This leads to a nuanced understanding of the larger picture. While we may focus on the overall scene, minor details often carry significance that can be easily overlooked. The same holds for our perceptions of individuality: stripped of context, an image becomes reduced to a mere visual representation. Yet, when we introduce elements that hint at a person's spirit, such as their body language, expressions, or interactions with the environment, individuals become more than just faces in a crowd; they emerge as complex beings with rich inner lives.
